Podcastica. Fun, in-depth talk about great TV.

Speaker 1:

Hmm, ah, hmm, one gets bigger.

Speaker 2:

Lizzie, what are you doing?

Speaker 3:

I'm putting magnets on the fridge. What do you think I'm doing?

Speaker 2:

Doing. Welcome to the show. My name is Alex and I'm Lizzie. Today we have the man of the hour, mr Jamie McGuire, aka Smiley, and congratulations. You made it back. Thank you, it's great to be back. Oh, and congratulations.

Speaker 3:

You made it back, thank you.

Speaker 2:

It's great to be back.

Speaker 3:

Oh my gosh, I am about to type that Daphne says oh my God, smiley. That rebirth scene was something, and I'm thinking, one of my favorite scenes for sure Like just the whole, like you know, the whole pound of flesh, and it's like you're getting up in the morning and then when you turn around and there's the smile and I'm like that is what we have been missing.

Speaker 2:

Well, our friend who also podcasts. She podcasts a lot of scary stuff for Run For your Lives. She had feelings, so that's the main thing. And for her to have feelings is a good thing, because you know we have been waiting for a conclusion to this wacky season. For a conclusion to this wacky season and let's first get into when. Did you find out that you were going to come back Earlier this year? So you knew all along. That's great.

Speaker 4:

Actually when I first well all along, I didn't know until earlier this year. So I had no idea until I got an email saying Smiley might not be dead after all. So I had no clue. Until I got that email earlier this year I was like what? Okay, it's like all right, awesome.

Speaker 4:

I'm not sure what this, I'm not sure what's going to come of this, but let's see how it goes. Then next thing, you know, I got there. It was great seeing everyone again when I did it. Now that the season finale is finally here, I was like I can finally breathe. It's not a secret anymore.

Speaker 2:

Thank you oh my god, now I can there now I can there all I could say is I know you're a big christmas guy, you got the tree behind everything else, but you couldn't have any christmas treats for for that scene, man, holy cow, you had had to be in shape for that, um, but you know what it reminded me of? It reminded me of terminator honest to god. That's it. That's it when, when you see, when you see arnold rebirth that was you hey, I appreciate that I wish I was in that good shape what's that?

Speaker 4:

I wish I was in that good of shape.

Speaker 2:

We all do, but at the same time, um, you know, can you take us through a little bit about that scene, because there was probably a ton of that fx and and how long did it take? And everything else.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, did you have a body double? Oh, no, that was me.

Speaker 3:

Ooh, okay.

Speaker 4:

Aside from the two younger, aside from the two younger smileys it was. Yeah, there was no body double for any of us. So I'm not sure exactly how long the rebirthing scene took, but thrills and chills would be the best way to sum that up. I just remember, because we're covered in this, we're like covered from head to toe and this big goop got red dye from head to toe and yeah, it's chilly, not gonna lie. But if it got in your mouth it was somewhat edible.

Speaker 4:

So not the end of the world then that's good when we actually got inside the cave, had to like crouch down as low as can. Then they throw this membrane sheet over us and we had to make sure that we would struggle just so so it wouldn't tear off and it would still look good for the camera. Make sure it would still appear natural too. So it was pretty fun to do.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, oh my gosh. I I, you know I wondered how new monsters were made, you know like, or if they were even made. And with Fatima sucking down blood, I was convinced that she was being made, especially on that scene. When she's on the bed and her stomach just goes like flat flatter than flat like back to her rip um, her backbone, I was like, oh my gosh, that's all of her organs being sucked out or something you know. So I was convinced that she was going to be the next monster. But I have to say I am so happy that that wasn't the storyline, I'm so happy that you're back because you are so menacing. Just, I mean, I don't know, do you have problems in real life, like IRL, when, like you know, like maybe someone recognizes you now, but then you're just like in the supermarket checkout line and you smile and say thank you, like does it freak anyone out?

Speaker 4:

I'm pretty sure my smile has freaked out a lot of people in the past, but there are actually two funny stories just this year with interesting encounters. I can tell you that much.

Speaker 4:

Okay year with interesting encounters. I can tell you that much. Okay, so the first one. So the first one. Earlier this year I'm I'm traveling to new brunswick and halifax, the maritimes, to visit family and friends. Then on my way back, I'm getting ready to board the plane. Next thing I know one of the flight crew or someone just ushering me to from the gate to the plane. She stops and looks at me. She goes wait, it's. It's like you're, you're him right. I don't know. It's like you're him, right. It's like you're you're that. It's like you're that guy right on on the show and I'm like I'm sorry it's like oh my god, what's it's from right?

Speaker 2:

it's like, and it's like you're that smiling guy.

Speaker 4:

It's like you mean. It's like, oh my God, what's the guy? It's from right. It's like you're that smiling guy. It's like, yes, yes, you're him right. Can I get my picture with you please? You should have responded, are you?

Speaker 3:

Lizzie. Lizzie's like the only one watching at this point.

Speaker 4:

Can I get my picture with you please? Sure, sure enough. After the photo was taken, we just shook each other's hands and said thank you very much. Meanwhile, other people are passing us to get on the plane. She's like politely stopping them. It's like okay, do you watch the show? Do you know who this guy is? Do you not know who this guy is? And I'm just like. It's the smiling guy in front of me. It's like Jamie's fine, nice to meet you.

Speaker 4:

Exactly the second one and I know we touched on this a little bit. So I was in Texas in September, which was a lot of fun. I'll touch on that later in a bit. Yes, but I'm waiting to board the plane from Washington to San Antonio. I'm just waiting to get boarded and, of course, there's dozens of people around, I'm just waiting.

Speaker 4:

And so there's this one woman. She's with her spouse. She looks over me a couple of times, right? I thought at first it was just, you know, a stranger accountant, or make eye contact, just nod, acknowledgement. Then I get closer, she goes excuse me, you're that actor, right? And I have no idea who this woman is.

Speaker 4:

At time I had no idea who she was and or even what she was talking about, for that matter. And she's like, it's like you're, you're on that show, right? You're that guy that that freaks people out, right? And? And of course I don't know so. And I and I got my covid mask on just to be safe, right, because I'm traveling from canada to texas, and then just to see if what she's saying made any sense, I'm just like excuse me, this is what you mean. Take off the mask, go. She's like oh my god, then just smacks, then smacks the guy she was like I told you it was him, it was. It's like. It was like oh my god, this is so great, it's like nice to meet you and then, just being friendly play, I'm saying hi, I'm jamie, nice to meet you. What was?

Speaker 4:

even funnier, right actually which was just as funny. I'm in texas. I'm waiting for my bag at the carousel just to be picked up. I finally get it. I turn around, it's them again. Oh god, no, no, it was great. Like they're great people. It's just like, oh, my god, we just want to say thank you so much. We love the show. When's it going to come back? When's the third season going to come back on? Are you going to be in it? It's just, you know, it's like you know the third season's going to be like you know, about a week or so it's gonna air again, right? So I'm glad you're both enjoying the show. It's like, yeah, sure, no problem. And of course, texas was a blast. So, oh, really, so it was a convention. I loved it and not just for the heath, right? Yeah, who knows me knows I love warm climates.

Speaker 3:

Welcome to Atlanta. It is hot. Not right now thank God, but yeah, the summers are just unbearable.

Speaker 2:

So, jamie, what I wanted to talk about was that whole scene was probably one of the most poignant scenes in the whole entire series. Honest to God, it was an important scene when you were doing your thing. Did they have the violin playing when you were doing that? Or was that added in Because I got to tell you the worst thing for the survivors that happened, meaning you coming to life was actually one of the most beautiful things, the way those other people were so happy and it just it was just emotional. And I was just curious, like after I I mean, I'm assuming you saw the whole episode now I mean, what was your thoughts after seeing the whole episode in terms of I know you had that, that one part, but it was such an important part like, did you feel as emotional as we did in the sense of oh my god, this is a really big deal in the scene?

Speaker 4:

I I really, really enjoyed it, and when I saw parts of it not just for myself coming back, I was so overwhelmed, so happy that it worked out so well. I got to be part of such a wonderful season finale and I was just in awe of all of this.

Speaker 2:

You know what? That's how we were. I mean, you really have been the icon of this show Between the stairs, looking down at the stairs, then in the bus, and now this I mean.

Speaker 4:

You're describing my own personal favorites now. Well, that and the autopsy scene, yeah yeah, so Were you, were you there, was the first fan favorite, I believe so, or the first scary scene I remember doing just thinking how cool it was now you were there.

Speaker 2:

I mean, you were like lying there and then they had something over you, or how did that work?

Speaker 4:

the man in the cave, no, in the autopsy scene. Oh, in the autopsy scene I'm on full makeup and prosthetics, full-on creature mode I'm lying on. So after they so first they carry me from outside into the thing. So it felt pretty cool just be carried like on one of those lifts or well, not stretchers, but one of those lifts be carried up, and that I found was amazing. Then they had me on the table just lying down and of course the cast members that were there had a going around and I'm not sure if they told the other cast members this, but they would signal me when to twitch my finger, like when you twitch your finger.

Speaker 4:

I forget it was either action or twitch, or it's like one, two, three go or something. I forget how they did it exactly, but every time I did that and of course it would freak them out and cut, and then one of them they are to this day still freaked out by that scene. I've been, I've been told or I've heard it gets, it still gets them every time and I always find it funny how on camera I freak people out, get away.

Speaker 4:

Then afterwards it goes from oh my god, this is awesome, hey, you mind if we get a photo together and we see, and for one part, when I'm on the ground outside, full-on creature mode, smiling, lying dead you got kaylin. The woman who played muriel goes from freaked out like to and cut peace, and then when chloe christie on the show, she still her own words. She still gets a little freaked out by it every time she sees the twitch, like the finger twitch, and at the same time, as soon as the camera's over, it's like, oh my god, I still remember this from season two. It's like, hey, can I get a picture with you and I'm in full-on costume makeup prosthetics. It's like, yeah, sure, no problem. And I only came across that photo recently. I'm like, oh my god, okay, christmas, get a picture with you and I'm in full on costume makeup prosthetics. It's like, yeah, sure, no problem. And I only came across that photo recently. I'm like, oh my God, okay, christmas just came early for me this year.

Speaker 2:

So and for that that's a big deal, that's a big statement, because you are a huge Christmas guy and we've talked about that before. I mean, you know, on your social media you have that, that picture of you in the red suit and the and the christmas tree and and I just, I just love that you embrace it so much. I mean I have a nine-year-old and she is full christmas mode right now so we get along just fine yep, all right.

Speaker 4:

And people on the from facebook groups actually saw that photo of me like dressed to the nines at a christmas thing and it's basically I'm not sure if we should be more or less scared of him now because, no, well, at least with the halloween stuff it's like okay, at least with halloween or the front, it's like we know what we're getting now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's like so what is your? I mean, obviously they haven't, um, told you they haven't written season four yet, and I'm not expecting you to know anything because you have. You can't talk about something that you really don't know about, um, really Um. But now that you're, now that the character is back after watching the season, what? What is your prediction for some of the terror that he's gonna start causing because they have done everything to mind screw with everybody? I mean, the fact that donna is like crying and what they did, the fatima, was just ridiculous. I mean, can, can you answer? Well, I don't know if you can answer this or not, but do you believe that, like, smiley is the head of the soldiers, so to speak? Because we've got the guy in yellow now and we don't know who that guy really is yet? So I mean, in your opinion? I'm not. Obviously you haven't seen any scripts or anything no, I'm just thinking about those myself.

Speaker 4:

I usually don't like to speculate or theorize in the off chance. I'm right for me. Every time I see a new episode or and that's a rare chance I'm right to me. I just watch the episodes, like mostly everyone else, and I often enjoy that because, you know, there's no spoilers. It's I get a genuine great reaction from myself every time I see it. It's all new, it's not like, oh yeah, I saw this coming. Or I mean, yes, I knew the scenes. I do that, I've been in. Even when I see it, I'm like, oh yeah, that's right, cause even it's like I know it's coming, but it's like, okay, they, I'm glad they put that together so nicely, right.

Speaker 4:

Yeah so as far as season four goes, I'm not really sure how that's going to. I know Smiley hopefully well. For the past few scenes he's definitely been one of the scariest creatures, at least. Yeah, for season 4 there's been specular and I really don't want to put words in other people's mouths or misquote anyone, but really anything could be there. They could see origins of Smiley. They could see him being, I guess you know, the rejuvenated born again leader. They could. I really don't like to theorize in the options.

Speaker 4:

I'm right and I accidentally spoil something, but I believe you know, I'm sure I'm sure what their decisions will be To Include Smiley, include the characters, the cast and crew that are in there. I'm sure they'll pull it off very nicely and in a way that'll have us keep guessing and wanting more, like they have for the past Three seasons. So I'm not sure what's in the future, but I'm looking forward to it.

Speaker 2:

I will say I love the fact that the monsters are coming. I mean they're they're playing chess. I mean they are playing chess and they're coming out obviously during the day, sort of um and and it's just a very. It's like I said this on the podcast the monsters are playing chess while the survivors are playing checkers. It seems like they're one step behind and I'm glad we got some answers. I know Lizzie has some questions too.

Speaker 4:

I was just going to touch on what you said. One of my favorite scenes aside from the birthing scenes, I wasn't in it, but when I watched I believe it was was episode 4, when the newcomers came. I really liked how clever they were when they had one of the female creatures lying on the ground playing dead, lying in ways, and then the others encircled them, trapped them. I was like, oh my god, and then it almost brought out the smiling me going. I'm so proud of you guys. Yeah, it was awesome, it actually had me going. Oh, god'm so proud of you guys.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, this is awesome. It's like, oh God, like it actually had me go. It's like, oh God, yes, and it's just like. It's like wait, and then I'm just glad no one else was with me. Go, why are you rooting for the villains? It's like you have to ask. So it's just like this is like this is so cool. And they did it and cause now we see you know they're not just mindless creatures who are almost untouched, who are almost unbeatable, but they got their wits about them too. So they were actually clever enough to trap newcomers, kill, at the very least kill one of them, injure a few and just even terrify the newcomers all the more.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, and then that scene was just amazing, amazing.

Speaker 4:

It was, and well, the entire show I find is amazing. I mean, I got my favorites, like everyone else, but for me, being on set never a dull moment watching the series, even though some episodes are less intense than others, you just know. You know it's like okay, wait for the next one.

Speaker 2:

It'll come. But, jamie, we hear this every week, whether it's a good episode, a great episode or a you know. Okay, oh, it's too slow, it's too. Listen every day can't be you know, a mind-blowing episode. You've got to have a table setter once in a while. Right, it's buildup.

Speaker 4:

They just don't get it. It's like building suspense. Then it's I don't want to say cliffhanger, because that's usually with season finales, but with episodes like that it's okay. Sure, it was less intense, less scary, but in my mind that just goes. Okay, wait to the next one. You know what's gonna happen, because that way it throws them yeah, it throws them, it'll keep them guessing.

Speaker 4:

It's like oh great, I'll be just like oh my jeez, that happened. Okay, yeah, all right, well, um, okay, well, um, I'm gonna be up for a few hours, so there we go yeah, exactly, exactly so.

Speaker 3:

Going way, way back when alex and I first started podcasting about the show, you were someone that we just always talked about, and our very first from actor guest was actually Liz Saunders and Alex, and I firmly believe that we named you.

Speaker 2:

We think we did.

Speaker 3:

We're pretty sure we did. Did unless you can say differently because we asked liz if she was as scared by you as we were.

Speaker 2:

That's exactly what I said to her. Yeah, because I what I asked was I asked so what is that guy during the, during the whole, you know raid, you know raid, you know the smiley one, what's he like in real life? And she said, quite honestly, we really didn't. We only met him in the scenes because they were kind of the extras at the time, so we really didn't see him as much. And you freaked the crap out of me, dude, it's a great day, so I met Liz.

Speaker 4:

It was after this that yep yeah I love doing that whole scene.

Speaker 4:

I didn't know what was to be expected. Then, just over the rail, I loved having the fake blood in my mouth and just looking over just the big eyes and like the blood coming down. I yes, I couldn't like, I knew, I knew I loved doing that. I just had no idea it would be such the fan favorite that it has become. And when I met liz saunders, when I met down at liz saunders on season two because this was my first time meeting most of the cast, most of the cast and crew with so when I was season two I was meeting most of them now and then I was so nervous about meeting them that I'm just like, okay, just, you know, I didn't want to get too. I didn't want to distract them and bother them in case they were practicing lines. But sure enough, liz came right up to me, introduced herself, saying it was very nice to meet you.

Speaker 4:

On the surface I was so calm. It's like very nice to meet you too. I was very happy, it's great to meet you all. Then, of course, on my own, I was that excited. I was almost jumping up and down to my shoes because I was like I was just so excited to meet everyone. It was, I mean, liz, pega Cordion, nate Harold, when they introduced themselves to me, I just couldn't believe it that I got to meet such a great crew and interact with them so much. Face to it, like everybody, I know I'm leaving out a few names, but I say this with everyone that I've met. It was amazing. And when I came back for season three, I was just hanging around, just walking around getting a bit of fresh air and sunlight.

Speaker 4:

Yes, I can walk during the day when I'm jamie, so don't worry about that I just burn a lot nice, I just have a little bit of burn sometimes for the neck when it's like, oh, whoops. It's like, yeah, it doesn't look too good if a nightmare creature has sunburn, does this? Yeah but sure enough, um, I was walking by her, harold came. It's like jamie, it's like, oh my god, harold, nice to meet you, or I mean not nice to me. Nice to meet you, or I mean not nice to meet you. Nice to see you again. And for season three, I'm getting a long overdue haircut.

Speaker 3:

Ian was very nice to just come up and introduce himself. Ian and Scott, they both were that is very nice.

Speaker 4:

I'm just like, oh my God. So it's like, ian, nice to meet you, scott, great to meet you. And we were just saying to each other great job, it's great to meet you. We loved each other's work that we did. It was just great seeing everyone else again interacting with everyone else cast and crew. It's like I was coming back to a second home. Every time I'm there. I just couldn't believe that I could do it. It's like I'm there it was. I just couldn't believe that I could do it. It's like I'm back. And then I just felt it's almost like I'm a kid again going to an amusement park. I mean, I was in Disney World and Universal last year and for me this is like equally as awesome. I was like, okay, yes, I know how old I am.

Speaker 3:

That doesn't mean I can't be extremely happy right now. You can be happy at any age, and extremely happy is even better.

Speaker 4:

My friend Lisa. People are still thrown by how old I am. So what's that? People are still thrown by how old I am.

Speaker 3:

Aren't you like 40?

Speaker 4:

No, but wait, no, okay, no, I'm not 40.

Speaker 3:

I mean, you look really, really young. I know we asked you. The first time you were 28 was he okay?

Speaker 4:

I like your guess a lot better, okay, okay, no, I'm 31, so yeah yeah, you look like a kid. That's the whole thing you look like actually so back when I was first having my 30, oh, 35, okay, well, actually that's not too bad.

Speaker 4:

I mean, depending on the at least at least, yeah, with age comes wisdom and at least as long as I look in my early mid-30s, I'm okay with that. Because, well and it was funny because I was back in may I was meeting some friends and family out in the maritimes just hanging around. This was just after I turned 31 and I'm at this place. They ask for id. I'm like I'm. It's like okay, I'm 31 and I'm not drinking anyway right now. So it's like yeah, no, you're not. Here's the card. Okay. Then yes, because I had one person. They looked at me like geez, I thought you were 17. I may not be drinking, but it's like no, I graduated high school a little while ago.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, Going back to the conventions. I have to imagine, especially after this finale, you're going to be pretty busy next year.

Speaker 4:

I really hope so.

Speaker 3:

What? What has been your experience like? What is something that you just did not expect in terms of conventions.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, so the most recent convention I've been to was back in september in san antonio, texas. You know, I really didn't know what to expect because I'd never been to a convention before in my life as a guest, as a vendor oh, wow never, because, well, I well I'd never been there, like I'd never been to a convention before, and being there as a guest was just awesome.

Speaker 4:

And it was so cool that I got to meet all these other great actors the actors, the vendors, fans, everyone running the show, so to speak. And when I got to meet the other guests, it was so. I had that feeling again, like I did when I was back on set meeting everyone on season two for the first time. I'm like, oh my God, most of these people I've seen in movies that I love, I've seen them for years.

Speaker 4:

I never thought I'd be in the same state as them, let alone the same room, let alone doing the exact same thing they are and I was just mind blown by all of this and I still had this shyness in me still, even though I was doing the same thing as them and when they introduced themselves to me and just making regular small talk. On the surface I'm like, really calm, shooting the breeze, but I still get that motion where it feels like I'm so excited. It's like that motion I always like to say, you know, jumping up and down your shoes, because on the surface you're calm, underneath you're just. I haven't had that much adrenaline. You wouldn't know if I had 20 cups of coffee in me and I don't drink coffee. So what does that tell you?

Speaker 4:

yeah, exactly everyone, and I mean the whole experience, was amazing. Everyone was so polite, professional and even one guest. I had a table right next to them. They had never. They didn't watch From that much, barely heard of it, actually. But in all fairness, from is a great show, just hasn't been around as much as the works of the other guests, of course. But after I told them about it they're like okay, I watching this now, yeah, and I'm just like wait a minute, I've seen this guy. I've seen this person in a movie that I've like and enjoyed for years. I'm meeting this person for the first time and he's interested in a great show and it happens to be a show that I happen to be on yeah, so and of course, that completely took me by surprise.

Speaker 4:

I was just so excited to meet everyone and all the and, of course, the vendors kindest people I've met in a long time and just you know, like the makeup artistry and you know what.

Speaker 4:

Until then, I cannot remember the last time I had set foot in a Spirit Halloween store. Oh, really, well, no, because it was COVID, this moving that and different things like that too. But I was like, finally, after I don't know how many years, I can finally do this, and it was so great. I got to go around check out all this really cool merchandise. I got to go around check out all this really cool merchandise and of course, the vendors, most of them recognized from and smiled and said, oh my God, it's you. And of course I'm just walking around seeing what's what. I'm just in awe by the whole thing the vendors, the cast crew, everything the whole setup. It's amazing.

Speaker 4:

And knock on wood, somewhere in the near future for me to do more conventions, go to different places, be it Canada, us, yeah, brazil, other parts of South America, europe, I would. I mean, I love to travel, I love the industry and after the experience in Texas, I'm like, okay, can I do more of this? Because and it just can be so many people that are polite, they have the same common interests as you. It's just amazing from everything. I mean it's a good thing I had impulse control, otherwise I'd be almost going on full-on shopping spree. It's like okay, yes, I'll take the store.

Speaker 3:

It's the coolest stuff. Like I've been to conventions, I never went to a convention until I was 50 years old. Now I've been to so many, I've got all of the lanyards from them and I've hosted celebrity panels. But I vend, I sell my book at conventions and I just every time I have a blast I had a field day and a half.

Speaker 4:

I was. I was actually sad when I had to fly back from texas. Well, yeah, that's what I said, but I'm like it's almost like you're in a kid, it's almost like you're a kid amusement park and it's just like you're in disney world, the universal. It's like a kid going to your parents like mommy, daddy, can we stay one more day please?

Speaker 4:

exactly because because I loved it so much the heat, the atmosphere and and you know I love christmas I could actually walk to a christmas store from where I was staying. It was like a five minute walk. Yeah, I'm just like, but the heat hits. I love heat, the heat hits you hard, not gonna lie, but I'm just like, okay, slightly different from where I've been, from where I'm living right now, and that's okay.

Speaker 2:

So right, do you?

Speaker 3:

have a pen and a piece of paper, because I'm going to tell you what you should try to book for this summer and talk to your agent. You want to go to Atlanta Comic-Con and Tampa Bay Comic-Con. They they're both in the summer. Atlanta obviously in Georgia, tampa Bay in Florida. You will love the heat, you will get a lot of heat.

Speaker 4:

I'm just keying it in right now just to make sure.

Speaker 3:

Yes, and you will see me at one or both of them nice atlanta and tampa bay yeah yeah, I haven't been to georgia yet, but I was in florida just last year.

Speaker 4:

Well, I've actually been to florida twice, loved it, because I was there last year for disney's 100th and I went to universal too, and it was so great seeing all the characters. It was just so great. It's like, yeah, I was 30 years old. I was like I don't care, I love the characters. Went to the Halloween store. I've had my picture taken with everyone at Universal, including Beetlejuice.

Speaker 2:

Oh, there you go.

Speaker 4:

Not Michael Keaton himself, although one day that would be epic.

Speaker 3:

Right.

Speaker 4:

But I'm pretty sure it would be like a who does it better. Yeah, I'm giving my vote to Michael Keaton. It'd be like a thing with Jack Nicholson, I was like, yeah, I'm giving my vote to him.

Speaker 2:

I don't care. So Jamie and we're speaking with Jamie O'Guire, aka Smiley, right before. I guess the season finale is going on NGM Plus For those of you that that didn't watch it already. You know people are loving you, like you said, have you ever thought of going on things like cameo or anything like that, because you would be like perfect for it to scare the crap out of friends and family like I could totally see you doing that. I thought about it.

Speaker 4:

I know I'll have to. I'll have to run it by. Uh, I'll have to run by a few people, but I've had people ask me for autographs, signed photos, cameos, short videos of them. Hello, I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

Speaker 2:

No, I think you're good.

Speaker 4:

What I usually do. I usually message people who are kind enough to reach out to me. Those said I'm glad they're enjoying the show. I love what I do. All the best to you, I'm really glad they're enjoying the show. Uh, love what I do and I'm saying you know, I'm all the best to you, I'm really glad you're enjoying this. I just wish you the best. And I've had and I'm so grateful that I've had people from many different parts of the world reach out saying how much they love the character, how much they love the show. And one of the funniest things I find and this is kind of similar time too it's like they said it's not very often I root for a villain or you seem like such a nice guy. How do you play such a villainous character so well?

Speaker 4:

I mean you seem so nice and I was like thank you, I appreciate that. No, really I'm asking yeah, Just just get into the character, just get into the character's mindset, follow direction. And I watched and over the years I've watched my fair share of horror movies and I've seen many horror icons a perfect mixture of creepy, scary, charismatic, intimidating and sometimes, with a few of them, even a little twist of humor too.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I love the twist of humor, which is why so many great horror actors, I find Do you want to? Play games.

Speaker 2:

Uh-oh, I have your scene, I have your big scene, sorry, I just want to show you this.

Speaker 3:

All right, go right ahead. Where did that come from? I just want to show you this. I was like where did that come from God?

Speaker 2:

I would love to play some games. Wait, hold on, let's start from the beginning.

Speaker 4:

We brought this ourselves.

Speaker 3:

Oh my god, I would love to play some games. How about this one? Bingo. I think you would like this one. You want to play games? Yes, I said I wanted like this one. You want to play games? Yes, I said I wanted to play games. I mean, I've got this really great one right here, connect four. It's a winner. Come get me. You want to play games? What about Yahtzee Jr? We could play this one.

Speaker 4:

I like this game.

Speaker 3:

Smiley likes it too.

Speaker 2:

I know oh my god, I couldn't keep a straight face. Oh and, like I said, we're speaking with Jamie and on his big return to From, and we can't be any more excited for you. I mean, this has just been, this has been a and I've said this this has been a hard season to watch, but it's been probably one of the best. How do you?

Speaker 4:

mean hard, I guess, waiting with anticipation. I mean that's how it was a lot of the time.

Speaker 2:

No, it was hard for me because there was like no, like happiness. I mean you guys and I'm saying you as the monster people or monster whatevers basically sucked the happiness out of Frumville Everything. Yeah, I mean it was deep this season, like there's just one word for this season. There's just one word for this season deep dive. And you know, I love the fact that, like Dion said, welcome back, thanks. Dion.

Speaker 2:

And you know, oh, thank you. It's just, we have been doing this for the last 10 episodes and it's like we just keep getting pounded and pounded and pounded. And you know, it's great to see, like when Jade does something funny, at least we have something to kind of you know A little levity to the thing a kind of you know a little levity to the thing. Yeah, I gotta say I'm just so happy that your crazy rebirth scene actually made everyone happy in a really sick way oh my god, shoulder bag this all right, jamie, here's the thing all

Speaker 3:

right you get back on set with all the other monsters I want you to send me a picture, a selfie of you with shoulder brad, shoulder bag and cowboy, and you in the middle if I'm able to do that, I'll see.

Speaker 4:

What would you say? Shoulder bag?

Speaker 3:

yeah shoulder bag. I just call her shoulder bag. She's the one with the hair. She smiles, she always has the purse. Like they're killing Mrs Lou and she's swinging the purse around. It's crazy, but her and Hellboy.

Speaker 2:

She's the one when you like start smiling, you turn around. She's in the background like all excited, like and and I'm gonna tell you, right now there is a I mean I know this isn't the reality of it, but as a viewer, they are so like, happily sick and I use that word in a book menacing like holy cow. They are looking to throw down man and it is going to. It's going to be on like Donkey Kong next season. I mean, I am so excited, I just hope I. I mean, like you said, every, every, everything that they've written so far has been pretty flawless. And and I know listening to john and, and you know, at comic-con and all this, and he's like we move stuff up, we push stuff back, you know, and you know, to keep the story along, because I think he had said in Comic-Con that Tabitha wasn't supposed to go to Maine until next season. But they moved it up. Yeah, they moved it up because they thought it was the right time.

Speaker 4:

And it worked out perfectly.

Speaker 2:

It worked out perfect for everyone, and I just think that you know we're so comfortable with your character, or I should say comfortable with whatever it is, don't worry about it.

Speaker 4:

I've heard everything from to it's like I hate you. You're so awesome, like for everything. I hate you. You're so awesome to you give me so many nightmares. I love it and it's just well. Okay, you're back to haunting my nightmares, thank you. It's sort of a mixed thing. It's like I just take it in stride where. It's like I love that you're back, even though you freaked out of me. It's like all right, thank you. So I just say thank you, I'm it's. I'm glad to be back.

Speaker 2:

I'm glad you're enjoying the series well, jamie, I know you have some other engagements tonight. I don't want, we don't want to, we don't want to keep you.

Speaker 4:

Oh, thank you. Well, oh, no, if you got any questions, feel free.

Speaker 2:

So I'm just saying, because I don't want to get eaten or I don't want to get terrorized in my nightmares or anything else that you had a big supper.

Speaker 4:

Trust me, and uh't worry, I like my fair share of protein, but I'm good for the night. For now, I think.

Speaker 2:

Oh well, thank you, Don't worry about that.

Speaker 4:

And it's funny too, because when I'm on that thing like jokingly, it's like please don't even say oh, don't worry, I had a big breakfast. Oh, it's all right, I had a big lunch.

Speaker 2:

Well we do have some serious questions for you here. Here we go. One of our favorites is asking will Smiley pick up some clothes or will he go all natural next season?

Speaker 4:

Oh, I don't think my body can handle the all natural and chillier weather, sorry, but well, he might stick with an outfit that works Exactly.

Speaker 3:

You get new clothes.

Speaker 4:

I wonder if that's it well, I don't know, I'll get in a regenerated body, so oh, um, the other question.

Speaker 2:

We had wait. I know you, I know the answer. Are you going to be doing anything else right now?

Speaker 4:

uh, that's what people wanted to know I can't comment, but you know I'm so and this might actually shock people. I never really got into horror until my late teens, early twenties. Yeah.

Speaker 4:

Growing up, my family never really followed horror. I mean, yes, we celebrated Halloween but the scariest thing I probably watched was like Scooby-Doo on zombie island or like some Disney special or something like that. Or or like some Disney special or something like that, or like Peanuts or Garfield or something like that. Then I realized late teens, early twenties, you know, worst case scenario. I have a couple of nightmares for a few days. Then I started watching more and more of it between Turner Classic Movies, amc, fear Fest.

Speaker 4:

I just started loving it more and more, got more into it gradually over the years, and so when from came up, I was casting this role and first given the direction to walk slow and be creepy. That was actually a direction for all the creatures one night just outside colony house one night while we did it. So I did the creepiest thing I could think of doing put on this big grin and just do a little bit of a menacing glare here and there. So in my mind I just went well, let's see what happens, go from there. And because all the most of the horror movies I found a lot of villains did that from and actors I found did that and I was like it works. I just hope I can do even half as good as they did. And next thing, you know, I'm seeing all these memes me being compared to them. I was like, okay, I grew up watching these people, so that's pretty epic.

Speaker 2:

I mean, I'm going out on a limb here. Your character reminds me a lot of Michael, because Michael Myers, michael Myers In the sense of you don't All the characters don't move very quick. Yeah, a sense of you don't all the characters don't move very quick. Yeah, and um, and yet you get your job done. Now Daphne I love this question. So what franchises are your?

Speaker 4:

favorite these days? Oh, good question. And actually I'm glad you I'm, I'm glad you brought up Michael Myers too. From memory, the original very first Halloween, I think is the very first actual horror movie I saw.

Speaker 2:

Wow, that's more than you've seen.

Speaker 4:

Because with AMC Fear Fest, usually I'm not sure what they do. Usually they start and finish that year with it or finish the AMC Fear Fest with it. So I always try and watch it. It one of, at the very least one of the very first things I watch. Or if I can't do it, I always try and end on a movie or similar to that.

Speaker 4:

I mean I love all the horror franchises. I love the franchises and every decade if you will, everything going back from the 20s and 30s to stuff that came out just this year. I mean I've seen everything from the era of bella lugosi and boris karloff, vincent price number one favorite actor in horror, just saying love all the others from boris karloff, bella lugosi and sir christopher lee. May all those guys rest in peace. Franchise really tough, because I love halloween nightmare on elm street child's play, friday the 13th, both pennywises although I gotta say tim curry's gotta be one of my favorite actors of all time because he's got such range right. And one movie that I watch on a regular basis now when it comes to horror and I didn't start until only a few years ago is trick or treat.

Speaker 4:

Okay because, I heard it was because at first I didn't know what to make of it because it was a bunch of. It was a movie coming from different points of view it was from this person's points of view, then this one's. I wasn't sure how that would all come together. But after I finished watching all of this, I now watch that on a regular basis, and while I was waiting for a layover on my way to texas, I actually downloaded the movie on my phone so I could start watching that. And I love vincent price movies and and I do like vampire movies too werewolves. One of my favorite vampire movies has got to be the original fright night. Oh, oh yeah.

Speaker 4:

So, it's really hard for me to say which is the favorite, because I love all those things, including the Stephen King movie adaptations. I mean, I love all of them, and I even saw the one as recently as the 2024 Salem Slot that's got Bill Pullman's real-life son in it.

Speaker 3:

Right yeah, my friend's son was in that. My friend who was in the in the in our comment section, her son was in that movie Nice.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so so that that said I, you know. I love the fact that you know you're doing the research, you know.

Speaker 4:

I usually try and do my homework when I can, whenever I try and do deep dives, like I never want to go in knowing very little, like I want to make sure that I'm I know enough of it or I'm as knowledgeable as I possibly can be to talk about this, because I'm talking with people that not only are they great people, but they're knowledgeable with this podcast and I would hate to go into an interview saying I don't know every five minutes because whenever.

Speaker 4:

I talk with deep dives. Two movies I'm really glad to say I've done deep dives with are the 1985 Fright Night versus the remake and another one, my favorite, favorite, vincent price movie, house of wax, that one versus the remake. So since those deep dives, I mean I did my homework, looking up everything from the years they were made, the actors that were in it, similarities and differences, budgets, how critics thought of it at time to time.

Speaker 2:

So, jamie, I have a favor to ask. Sure, all right, sure, and this is going to be an easy favor. It's not anything, all right, that's me like I told you. She's, she's on. Nope, that's not what I want to show, thank you. I appreciate that awesome um daphne, who, who, uh, is a our fellow podcaster. In podcastica, her and paik do a thing called run for your lives and I know and she just said this in the chat we're going to get you hooked up.

Speaker 4:

Definitely appreciate that, daphne. Hope to see you soon. Great meeting you. Even though it's not in person yet, I look forward to it. Sorry, alex go ahead.

Speaker 2:

I just love to have you on our podcast, because you know what it comes down to, it's not so much from it's that there's a lot of actors nowadays and Lizzie was talking about this. You know we're we're of a certain age, we're a little bit older than you, so we know a lot of the other movies, and the fact that you're pulling up those type of movies really tells us that you're all in, and I love it.

Speaker 4:

Oh, I forgot Psycho, another franchise. Sorry, I didn't want to leave. I actually I, I live Psycho another franchise.

Speaker 2:

Sorry, I didn't want to leave you. I live Psycho.

Speaker 4:

Nice. I was almost with you there, alex, come on.

Speaker 3:

If only you would stop ripping open the shower curtain, you wouldn't be so scared.

Speaker 2:

So get your chocolate out and you're good. No, but I think you know, between you, and when we had Bob Mann on talking about the gags that you guys had to do, and there's just, there's so much, there's so much detail that goes into this show, that Patrick is putting into it, as the you know, and all his, all the people that do the FX you know that whole crew and it just shows. I mean, it really does show and it really you know it. Really it really makes us want to want to do this. So are there any actors on the show that you haven't yet terrorized? Slash worked with that. You want to, and I know probably everyone. But in watching the show, is there anybody in particular?

Speaker 4:

There is no one in particular that I want, I'll rephrase that I'm happy with everyone. I'm glad to have met everyone that I've met. I'm happy with everyone. I'm glad to have met everyone that I've met and, please God, if I get to work with them in From and or other projects, I'd love to meet with all of them from the original cast to the newcomers. I would just be grateful to whomever I get to meet and work with. I understand.

Speaker 1:

I understand I won't lie to you, whomever I get to meet and work with.

Speaker 4:

I understand, I understand. I won't lie to you.

Speaker 4:

Until season three I have not actually personally met Ian or Scott Jim and Victor, I didn't actually meet until season three and the, and I didn't meet them till then and I've seen, like I've seen, them around from time to time, but yeah, you don't want to bother anyone while they're doing stuff. Yeah, he wants to just go up say hi, very nice to meet you, but I just want to make sure that I'm not bothering anyone. So when I was getting ready to get my haircut done, I see ian for the first time ever face to face yeah and he and I can't believe.

Speaker 4:

It's like, oh my god, jim is introducing himself to me. It's like jim is introducing himself to smiley right, it's just, and I couldn't like I was blown away me. It's like Jim is introducing himself to Smiley right, it's just, and I couldn't like I was blown away by this. It's like so nice to meet. You Got a photo taken with him. It's just, oh my God.

Speaker 4:

It's so nice to meet you and then basically five minutes later he goes out. I see Scott McCord. It's just like hey Scott, how are you? I just couldn't believe it all. And then when I met Liz and Pega for the first time and Cordion, I couldn't believe it. They were just so friendly, they came up to me and it was just so natural too, and I love how I was like oh my God, these are such you know, they're big names in this series. I've seen some of them in other works too.

Speaker 4:

Can't believe how nice, polite, respectful, just cool to be with on and off sets and even during the choking scene with harold and smart with boyd and smiley. It was so funny too. It was it's like my blood is your, like. So I can't, I can't do it nearly as well as harold can, but yeah, it's like my blood is your. And then just swear it's like and cut. It's like jimmy, all right. Oh, yeah, I'm good, I'm good. Trust, it's like yep and breathe. Yeah, it's just like. Oh, my god, it's like and cut. Oh man, how you doing. Yeah, I'm pretty good, thanks, just like. Yeah, keep going, it's all right, man, I mean I love that thing.

Speaker 4:

It goes from it. It goes from being freaked out or well, not, not enemies, that's not enemies, but like from being freaked out or from the antagonist to just and cut to being so easy and relaxed. And then there was even one moment I remember one day I was full-on smiley prosthetics, the whole works, mask, fake nails, fake teeth, like it's just everything. Like I had to actually avoid eye contact with a few people here and there because it was freaked out. But after I said and done, there was one person I won't say who they were laughing a little bit off camera and I didn't know why they were laughing. So after everything was said and done and it made no difference to me, it's they said the answer was you're so. You were just so freaky to look at, yet so easy to talk to and be around. It's like. It's like I don't know how that worked, like that's why it was sort of. That's why that person had the reaction they did.

Speaker 4:

And really I know, I know it may sound like a cliche and I say this every five minutes do what you love. You never work a day in your life right. The set of from is almost like a cliche and I say this every five minutes Do what you love. You never work a day in your life Right. The set of From is almost like a second home to me. That convention I had, that I was at in Texas, that was almost like another second home to me. And you know every podcast I do. Every time I meet such great people it just I can't thank everyone you guys included enough for making me feel so welcome and for talking about such a great project and such Well. You earned it, man. You earned it yeah.

Speaker 2:

I mean, that's the thing, you know, there's big stars. You know you got Harold, you got Ianan, you got you, you got a bunch of big stars in a show and they're so nice. But but my point being is this could be we could say we knew you when and I don't mean that to be funny, because there's there's certain icon, there's certain iconic moments and fortunately you've had three of them in the show. Thanks, yeah, I mean, and the last one has been aired. It was one of the last scenes in the whole darn show. So I mean, I think that you know, I don't, I don't say this, I say this because hard work, hard work and being in the right position at the right time pays off it really does and that's now I

Speaker 4:

couldn't predict what happened in a thousand, like what happened to me over time. I couldn't have predicted in a thousand years, nobody had, but I'm so grateful that it happened and I'm I. I really don't. I just want to give credit to everybody.

Speaker 2:

But you know what, Jamie?

Speaker 4:

Fans, family, support everyone. I can't thank everyone enough for it.

Speaker 2:

You know what, though, jamie? And I say this and I bring up my daughter a lot I say this to my daughter all the time you earned it, you know what? Because a lot of people that can do a lot of what you can do meaning be scary do all this other stuff, but you know what? You're the one that you're the one that got, you're the one yeah, I know, I hear it all the time from her You're the one that you're the one that got classed it and you're the one that that's doing it. And that's the thing. I mean.

Speaker 2:

How many actors can, how many actors are there? A bazillion dollars, because everybody's loving you and we've been waiting and hoping. Like I remember saying in the podcast earlier in the season, I'm like he can't come back and if he does, it'll be dumb. Well, you know what they made. I'm eating crow. I'm eating a lot of crow right now, because they made it the most beautiful scene ever, and I am so impressed now that I'm reading my own words because the writers know how to weave a story.

Speaker 4:

They really do it's impressively mind-blowing, if that makes any sense at all, and I can't believe it. And at first, smiley might not be dead. At first I didn't know what to make of it. It's like, okay, is it going to be another flashback? Is this? Maybe something will happen? But the way they did it and when I got to do it, it was just so amazing. I mean, yes, I read this, I got to read the script before I did it or before I actually was on set doing it. But when I read it I was like I wonder what this is going to bring up. Then it caught me completely by surprise, in every sense of the word, and it was just so cool to see all these great people again to be around them.

Speaker 4:

And before from, I never did prosthetics, ever so. So that whole time. So I was asked this a few times like what was it like? Was it uncomfortable? It's like no, I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable, I just didn't know what to expect. But after I saw how it was going to be done and when it was going to be done, yes, it was a different experience and it doesn't feel 100% natural, like you. You, I mean, you got a bunch of stuff on. But it feels cool and freaky at this. It feels cool, it feels freaky. I remember the first time I'm looking myself in the mirror with all this stuff on going. I'm like, okay, I wonder how many people I'm gonna freak out right now.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, now, did you have to have when, when you did the scene with, when you killed the flashback scene Right? Was that a double, or did you have to do it with the mask and then without the mask?

Speaker 4:

No, the tackling part was a double with the mask and phone thing. I actually got to meet the guy as regular Smiley. Then I saw the double in full on creature mode. It was pretty cool and it was just so cool and one of the guys who he's a great guy and so good at what he does like the full on prosthetics makeup and of course the three of us were together shooting the breeze, catching up on memories, fun times and just seeing I was like okay, this scene's going to be pretty cool too.

Speaker 3:

Oh, that scene, it made me so sad I've.

Speaker 4:

I mean forgive me for this I've been almost I don't want to say emotional. I've been so happy, I've had an adrenaline rush for almost all day, and I almost all day. And I've anyone who knows me knows I get up really early. So but yeah, like at first, I like at first. You know, like everyone, I'm a bit groggy at first when I wake up in the morning. That's why horror movies don't scare me. The freakiest thing I see in the morning is my own reflection when I wake up in the mirror first thing. That's it. You smile at yourself no, I just no.

Speaker 4:

I just wake up and I get very little sleep, so so well but and when I see it, I just can't believe I've myself the entire from team the series has had so many compliments from so many different people being informally invite or, you know, saying you know, if you're ever in this neck of the woods, ever in this area, you know we'd love to have you. And I just say you know, know, I really appreciate that, I really hope so, because all these are on my bucket list too. Yeah, and even this year I've, for fun, just looked up you know um top places in the world to be for halloween or top scariest places to check out or something like that, and you've got you've got and I came across and I and you know what I have not been to universal halloween horror yet I had friends who went there.

Speaker 4:

They came back. They're familiar with the show. It's like, okay, Jamie, you got to go there. It's like you got to go there as soon as you can.

Speaker 2:

Jamie, let me cut you off for a second. The place you got to go is her neck of the woods up in Salem.

Speaker 4:

You think that is number one on my bucket list I'm gonna tell you. I saw this on social media, followed city walks. I was lucky enough to have them follow me back on instagram. I saw this on my phone one night for the first time, like I don't believe it. I was like because I'm seeing all these different characters halloween, horror, the witch, city tours, the set like the scenery and setting of hocus pocus and I'm seeing everyone from tim burton's corpse, bride, victor and emily, and chucky beetlejuice, the sanderson sisters.

Speaker 2:

Oh wait, this other guy is going to be up there and they're going to be. That's.

Speaker 4:

That's when you know you're going to make it, when people start cosplaying like you yeah, oh, I appreciate that, and I think one or two people asked do okay, do they have smiling masks out yet they really should, or it's just? Is that smile natural?

Speaker 4:

I really want to cosplay you at some point and make sure you get a story just this halloween, like just only a few weeks ago. Oh, thank you, definitely. I really want to check that out and because I want to go and I can't believe I'll touch on salem later, if not on this in private at some point. But I almost forgot what I was saying, but when I did this it was so cool. Oh right, that's it. Last halloween one of my friends they watched the show she actually told me, you know, I was gonna do a bottle tree in our front yard, but I'm worried it would have freaked out my family and neighbors, so wait I.

Speaker 2:

I got a good story for you. My daughter is. She's in fourth grade. She's reading this book because of Winn-Dixie Okay, Okay, I don't know what's going on with it. It's probably her dog, Charlotte. It's probably her dog, Charlotte. So no.

Speaker 3:

I don't know what. Sorry, all this creepy oh yeah that's what I need right now is to take me to come right into the screen I can if you want, don't tempt me so right, exactly.

Speaker 2:

so she's reading this book. Next thing, you know it's talking about a bottle tree, right? So I start doing some, some, like you know, research on bottle trees. They've been around forever and they're supposed to keep the monsters in and when they, when, when they howl like, go the whoo, that's the monsters trying to get out. So we said this to, we said this to david uh, alpin up like and, and he's there's, bottle tree lore, like they, there's, like I really love the sense of detail, that, um, that we have in this show. So I mean, like I said, all the comments, they love you, dude, they love you and and I'm going to tell you when, when, when next year or the year after, I mean that you guys finally get to defrost and actually film, cause I mean it sounds like it's a long time, but it's going just back on schedule, so that you guys are in the winter, which really sucks for us as viewers, but it's it's going to make it a lot better.

Speaker 2:

You know when, when it comes back, we're going to get you back on. Hopefully you'll, you'll have the time and we'll and we'll dissect everything, because I think this whole season, it's going to take us two years to figure out what the hell we just saw.

Speaker 1:

I really think it was that good and um, it was very good.

Speaker 2:

It was very good it the whole kimono lady and the whole fatima thing, and and and then poor, poor elgin man, that kid needs some friggin. If anybody needs a drink, elgin needs a drink. Um, do me a favor, never get an instamatic camera anymore. I'll tell you that much. Yeah, but uh, but anyway, I just I just wanted to thank you once again. We got to go because we got to get ready for the 10 o'clock, I know, because you got to go for what you have to do. But, um, again, I want to thank you so much and thank you both very much and feel free to drop a message.

Speaker 4:

So don't worry but, we've got even a. Hi, how are, how are you? And I know it's early, but happy, early Thanksgiving to you guys.

Speaker 3:

Thank you. Oh, actually it's not your time yet, actually it's already past.

Speaker 4:

We actually celebrate Thanksgiving before Halloween, so my decor is sort of like an autumn slash Halloween thing, but no.

Speaker 2:

what we could use, though, is what we could use, though, and I'm going to put you on a big screen here we would love a good Merry Christmas from Smiley. That's what we really need, you want?

Speaker 4:

a Merry Christmas, everybody, from your guy Smiley. I'm really glad you guys got to enjoy the series. I'm so glad that you're as happy to see the season three season finale as I was. I'm not sure how you're celebrating your holidays this year, but a very happy early Thanksgiving and, when the time comes, I wish you the best of holidays from my home to yours. A very Merry Christmas to you all and a happy new year.

Speaker 2:

Thank you so much, jamie. We have to do one more thing, because if we don't, we can't leave Fair enough. See you at 10. Get you home, let's go, come on. Get in your house, let's go, come on.
